A Decade of Stages of Love

On its 10th year anniversary, Stages of Love hits the theater scene once again, retelling a series of stories woven together about finding, losing, and holding on to love. Set in a coffee shop, two baristas are central to the stories of the intersecting fates of the hopeless romantic, the kengkoy torpe guy, the ngsb, the conyo high-maintenance girl, the resident flirt, the girl next door, the dakilang best friend, the low-key creeper, and the bungangerang palengkera -all mixed-up with a bunch of catchy songs in a cesspool of romance, friendship and heartbreak.

This one-act mala-local-romcom musical was conceptualized by Andrei Paminutuan who is back on the team as the Director. He has recently completed a Directing and Producing Mentorship at the New York Foundation for the Arts' Immigrant Artist Mentoring Program (NYFA-IAP). Mr. Pamintuan’s recent artistic work and advocacy has been through working as the Festival Director and founder of The Manila Fringe Festival (Fringe Manila), a multi-genre international art festival that inaugurated in February of 2015.

Alongside Andrei Paminutuan, is the Artistic Team composed of Boo Gabunda and Marga Crisostomo as Assistant Directors, Abi Sulit as Musical Director assisted by Alex Masucol, Rianna Raymundo for choreography, Kayla Teodoro for set design, Miyo Sta. Maria for lights, and Chab Ocampo for costumes.

This year’s Stages of Love is in partnership with Spectrum Collabs--a multi-performance arts group that had their first art baby last April 2015 with their adaptation of Stages of Love. Found by blueREP alumni Aldrich Alcantara, Lara Antonio, Mica Fajardo, Cassie Manalastas and Bernice Reyes, Spectrum Collabs is growing to be a home for artists of all kinds!

The group aims to make art more accessible by producing a wide range of material that are relevant and relatable while keeping our prices wallet-friendly, and by utilizing venues apart from just theaters. They welcome homegrown talents to bring their works to life by featuring various forms of art that can touch a wider range of audiences.

Now, Stages of Love is back on the blueREP stage. This 10th anniversary showing is marked by changes that have happened throughout the years as the characters, as well as songs have been updated. But it remains to be all about the many stages that the heart goes through.

Stages of Love will run from March 30-April 2,2016, April 5-9 2016 and April 12-16 2016 at the Black Box Theater, Ateneo de Manila University, and may be viewed by all audiences. During weekdays, shows will be at 8 pm; on Saturdays, the production is scheduled to begin at 3 pm and 8 pm. For ticket inquiries and reservations, please contact Mikee Alvero (0915-1780336).
